AUTHORS and ILLUSTRATOR

The wonderful world of stories and language learning created an affinity between the following four people that led to the creation of the enjoyable bilingual tales about the Australian bush and Australian food. The stories were written in English, French and Japanese before being translated into the other languages.

Margaret A. Clark - An exceptional art student from her high school days and has studied at the Canberra School of Art. Margaret brings out the natural qualities in anything she paints and loves rich and vibrant colours. She continues to experiment with new painting mediums and has been working with pastels, watercolour pencils and oil paints.

Tricia Hutton - Tricia loves books and has a M.A. in French. Her interests are French medieval history and the way the spoken word has developed. Her love of words has seen her expand her horizons and pursue a legal career.

Makiko Nakazawa - You will find Makiko surrounded by children's books. She undertook the Japanese translations of Wombat Stew, Hattie and the Fox and Shoes from Grandpa. Her other publications are the Japanese bilingual readers written with Dana Skopal for primary schools. Makiko has developed an interactive language teaching method for kindergartens, and she has lectured about teaching at Australian
pre-schools in Japan.

Dana Skopal - An Australian with a European background and with an affinity for the Japanese language. Her qualifications include an Honours Degree in Japanese from the Australian National University and LOTE (Languages other than English) training. Her other publications include Japanese Fun Puzzles, and bilingual readers such as Food / Tabemono, and Family and Friends / Tomodachi to Kazoku. Dana has also run a workshop on Motivation and Revision through reading and writing for the
NSW Department of Education.
